Hello, Xin chào,
I'm Phong Nguyen

EmptyName 1_edited.jpg

Originally from Hanoi, Vietnam, Phong discovered his love for film as a child actor and performer. As he grew more aware of the lack of Asian representation on screen, he shifted his focus to behind the camera to tell the stories he longed to see. His work centers on underrepresented voices and small moments of everyday life.

He most recently directed the horror short Do or Die (2025, Bleedingham Horror Film Festival) and produced the LGBTQ+ drama After Midnight (2026, Long Beach QFilm Festival & ImageOut). Phong has professional experience in non-scripted TV acquisitions at Fremantle, known for America’s Got Talent, American Idol, and Family Feud, as well as in Asian film distribution at EST N8, working on titles including Dear Stranger and Pabrik Gula. He has also supported branded video projects for clients including J.P. Morgan and Times Higher Education.

Phong was selected for Gold House’s competitive national scholarship and mentorship program, which supports and empowers the next generation of Asian Pacific college leaders. Now a Film student at the University of Rochester, Phong continues to develop his craft and advocate for stories that deserve to be seen and heard.
